Marva Media responded to the radical change in communications by combining its media and printing operations into one multimedia company. Today, the well-known Rauma brands can be found under one roof, Marva Media, whose time-honoured, strongly local media operations are piloted by manager Reima Numminen.
Länsi-Suomi is the impartial, daily newspaper issued in the economic district of Rauma. Its circulation is very broad, with a readership of 59 000 in Rauma and its surrounding municipalities. Almost all copies are delivered early in the morning, direct to the subscribers.
The time-honoured newspaper, established in 1905, utilises the industry’s latest technology in its publishing activity. The newspaper’s circulation department cooperates with national newspapers and distributes them in the early-morning delivery of its own area.
A city newspaper raumalainen.fi is printed twice a week and also published online. Raumalainen.fi is being delivered free of charge, reaching almost all residents of Rauma area.
Focussing on the supply of local news and entertainment programmes, Radio Ramona is one of Finland’s most successful local radio stations. It has consolidated its position in Rauma as the leading music radio. The local radio reception area, initiated in 1988, covers all municipalities in Rauma’s economic area.
In a nationwide comparison poll, Ramona was placed among the industry’s best players: offering around-the-clock programmes, Ramona has three times been selected as Radio Station of the Year.
Launched in autumn 2012, kiekkoareena.fi is Marva Media’s national ice hockey website. Kiekkoareena.fi provides professional hockey news of Finnish Elite League (SM-Liiga).
City app Kamu
Kamu rounds up events in Rauma region, tells what’s happening in the city and lists restaurants and lunch places. Kamu is made for young adults but there is no age limit in using the app. Active lifestyle and interest in what’s happening in the city is what Kamu-gang is known for.
